Band of the Territorial Army, Ystad |

||||
The town of Ystad is situated by the southern coast of the southernmost province of Sweden, Scania. Several regiments have been located to Ystad during the centuries. This band was established in 1980, in order to continue the traditions of military music when the last regiment in Ystad was closed down. However, the band was actually established in 1948, though as the Band of the Volunteer Fire Corps. All members of the band are volunteers. The age of the members varies between 15 and 80 years and a substantial part of the band is under 25 years, an exponent of the big interest in military music in Ystad. The band is approved to represent Sweden abroad and at the changing of guards at the Royal castle in Stockholm. Besides the duty of supporting the local army division with ceremonial music, we also spread our music to the non-military community through concerts and music marches in town. The Ystad band enjoys playing music of all sorts, both traditional and modern wind band music. The band participates at Ystad International Military Tattoo every second year. |
